The Steering Committee, along with our hosts at the Institute for Forensic Research, cordially invite you to Krakow for the annual conference of the European Network of Forensic Institutes (ENFSI) Expert Working Group on Explosives, better known as the Forensic International Network for Explosives Investigation (FINEX).
Since the success of our inaugural conference in 2004, held in Noordwijkerhout (The Netherlands), FINEX has continued to support its original aims and objectives by providing its members with a range of activities associated with forensic explosives and post-explosion investigation. These activities are broadly directed towards the exchange of information and expertise; support on technical issues; promoting quality assurance, proficiency testing and collaborative exercises; harmonisation of crime scene guidelines, examination procedures and analytical methods; co-operation in research and development activities.
The 2012 conference marks the ninth annual meeting of FINEX and hopes to build upon the success of previous conferences held in The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, France, Cyprus, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom and Austria. As usual, we hope to have an interesting and topical scientific programme that will aim to emphasise the laboratory-based practical aspects of delivering forensic science in our field. This will include presentations from a broad international delegation on explosives-related casework and recent progress in research and development. Additionally, a facilitated workshop, that we are provisionally calling ‘The Future of FINEX’, will be held during the conference. This will focus on discussing how FINEX can provide best value to its membership in times of international economic difficulties. We intend for the workshop to be fully interactive and hope for lively discussion and debate!!
To complement the busy scientific programme, we will offer you the opportunity to relax in the company of old friends and colleagues during an exciting social programme in the heart of Poland’s beautiful city of Krakow.
Once again, we really do look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Krakow for the FINEX 2012 conference.
